SSL Cert
Ensure Secure
Transactions With 128 Bit Encryption. A SSL Certificate
allows web pages to be sent encrypted so others are unable
to intercept sensitive information. When a SSL Certificate
is protecting your Website activity, a small padlock symbol
appears at the bottom right hand corner of your Browser.
This padlock is visible during all Credit Card Transactions.
To enable Credit Card Transactions to take place on your
site you need an SSL Cert. There are two methods of
obtaining this cert. Firstly you may purchase a Dedicated
SSL Cert which is registered to work with your website and
will function for a 1 year period. Secondly you can make use
of our SSL Cert which will handle your secure transaction on
your website.
Both options are EQUALLY secure as both use the exact same
encryption system. The difference between the two options is
in the wording of the URL address that's visible in the
Browser Address Bar. For example:
With a Dedicated SSL Cert the URL for the Order Page
would look like this:
https://www.domainname.com/order.asp
NOTE: the protocol is https compared to http when the
connection is insecure.
With a Shared SSL Cert the URL for the Order Page would
look like this:
https://www.secure-ssl-server.com/domainname/order.asp
The URL
www.domainname.com
remains the same elsewhere on the site and is only changed
to
www.secure-ssl-server.com/domainname
for the page that handles the order.
The cost of a
Dedicated SSL Cert is €110 + Vat Per Year.
The use of a Shared SSL Cert in included in the Web Hosting
Charge
